    Headline from today's Bangkok Post:

    Swede stabs Kiwi

Although at first glance it looked like some kind of fruit and veg fight, the story turned out to be about a fatal stabbing.

"A New Zealand man was stabbed to death by a Swedish man in a bar in Pattaya during a quarrel about the suspect's girlfriend and pet dog, police say."

    This was a local story:

Salinas Man Fails Wife Yet Again

"Salinas police say a man tried to run over his wife in his Ford Fiesta during an argument outside their home late Monday.
Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of Rico Street just before 7 p.m.
Police were able to determine that the suspect drove his car directly at his wife during the dispute.
"(The suspect) left plenty of skid marks in the parking lot, but was not able to run over his spouse," a police media release said."

Sounds like one of Jasper Carrott's insurance claims!
The guy was all over the road. I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission oversees financial markets. Their Trading and Markets Division advises financial institutions about the dangers from hackers and ensures they stay safe. They also advise on when data should be encrypted and how.

Sometimes the T&M Division staff need to attend hacker conferences to keep abreast with what's going on. Once such conference they attended was Black Hat Convention and they took their laptops along. With data on the laptops.

Here's the kicker. They forgot to encrypt the data.

Here's a scan from a local newspaper. They have a "Community Listings" section, which includes various activities in the city and details of support groups and their events. Then it goes on to list "Dining", where various restaurants advertise their latest promotions. I don't think their sub-ed did a very good job about what was placed where.

Anyway, as Dave said when I showed it to him, "How can you be an anonymous overeater? Wouldn't people be able to tell just by looking at you?"
