Hi,

I am new to this forum and website.

The reason I have signed up is that I am seeking advice on selling my website. Here is some information.

> • On average 1,600-2,000 unique visits per month. These are driven by local search terms usually with the word “York” in the search query
> • 280 Businesses registered on the website
> • Ranked well on Google & Alexa, given the site’s age. For example “Free Advertising York” is ranked on Page one near the top. PR=2
> • Turnover for last year was £5K – based on 10-12 hours effort per week
> • Business Models are designed to generate 70-80% profit.

> What would be included in the sale
> • Ownership of WhyYork.co.uk
> • Sub sites include:
> o Classifieds
> o Events (However this is currently offline)
> o Vouchers
> o Blog
> o Other sections can be negotiated.
> • Twitter & Facebook Accounts
> • WhyYork Video Advert + YouTube Channel
> • Training on the above
> • Existing Customer Base + Access Database System.
> • Any customisation that you would require, ie logo change etc

I havent paid myself a salary, the money is sat in the bank less the running costs.

How/What should I sell the site for?

Here is the critical piece in your site description.

The person who runs this site (as is) will essentially be buying a job that pays £10 an hour. Unless they can outsource the work cheaply or find additional revenue sources the site isn't worth much as an investment unfortunately.

Hitesh, I'm glad you took my suggestion to register at the forums. I hope others chip in to give you more opinions/suggestions.

In the meanwhile, it may be worth you reading our thread on how to add value to your website.

... and in addition transferring a website to a new owner always entails a risk that some revenue and momentum will be lost. That too must be factored in to the evaluation.

Without wishing to appear critical, there are a few things about the site that I found annoying.
In the 'classifieds' section there is an annoying popup advert.
You can only go from 'classifieds' back to the site home page by clicking the back button
The 'whats on' link takes you to another website. As this site is a totally different style am I right thinking that this site is not yours? It also has its own adsense and info that suggest it competes against the main site.
I think that if you sell the site as it stands you would not get a great deal for it. You could probably make some changes that would help improve the overall feel of the site an encourage a buyer to take a chance with it, or someone may see potential and be prepared to make the changes themselves
