Would $500 be a fair offer for this site?

I'm looking at a couple of auctions at Flippa, this is one: http://flippa.com/auctions/91117/Pal...3-1-NO-RESERVE

If it is indeed making $55 a month, and takes no time to manage, does $500 look like a reasonable offer? I appreciate it's going to be a risk so don't want to spend too much on my first site, but this does appear a fairly established site and has a regular income. I'm attracted to the fact that it doesn't require regular work.

Is there anything I need to be worried about?

Just because the seller says it takes no time to manage doesn't mean that it is true. Someone has to write those sponsored posts, and since he is claiming that the site has zero expenses, he must be doing it himself, along with selling some text links and adding other content.

My issues with the listing are:

    He provided incomplete revenue proof.
He claims there is no expenses associated with the site (it doesn't look like a free domain with free hosting to me).
The traffic stats are from AWStats, so they are inflated.
There is obviously some time required to manage the site if you want to bring in that amount of revenue.
He is just asking for a Google Slap by writing on seemingly random topics and selling so many links.

You could buy a site like this for $100 or less at Digitalpoint, but I personally don't like sites that make most of their money through paid posts and links that have to be manually sold because of the time involved.

Looks like there's a lot of duplicate content on that site. I wouldn't buy it. It's a wordpress blog with content from ezinearticles and the like thrown on there.

If you want to spend $500, I would look for a site that at least has unique content.

    Good luck.

    Melissa, any update on this?

If you need any other reason to stay away from the site, look at the last comment from the seller: "On the last month,I have received many offer from sponsoredreviews.com, I just too busy to write an article :-)"

The market's gone nuts. There are 9 bidders in there and they are already up to 9x ...for an autoblog!

But, as I've always maintained, maybe they see themselves making a lot more than $55 pm and are valuing the site based on what they think they can do with it, particularly so as this isn't the average template with a 30 day history, but a 5 year old site with 60K pageviews (I like how sellers quote pageviews, it looks so much better than talking uniques )
