Impressive Sale - the value of a seller's brand

    http://flippa.com/auctions/90328

Ebook website with a ~$1000/monthly income was just sold for $21,000 - a high multiple, especially for a relatively risky business model. What's also quite impressive is that the auction racked up 3,114 views and a whole bunch of watchers.

The sales patter is superb, what what has really driven the success here is that the seller has been building his brand over time. He's got a site over at http://www.TrustedSiteSeller.com where we asks people to subscribe to his mailing list to learn about future sales.

The seller is brokering sales - and I could imagine that even with a perfect pitch, we could all benefit from using the services of someone like this - the cost of their service is perhaps offset by the benefit of his association to the auction (= trust) and access to hungry buyers.

    Food for though.

Hey Keith, we already had a thread going about Abisko here: http://experienced-people.net/forums...-abisko-Gotcha!

Thanks for pointing out another interesting sale though.

edit: I should add that he also has an account on these forums as abisko

    Keith,

It seems odd that almost every listing that this seller has went for the BIN price, and it looks like he's exaggerating the value of the sites he has sold (at least under that account) on his website. It might be that I am biased because my first impression of this guy was not a positive one, but I'm not as impressed as you are.

I guess I'm more impressed by his ability to create this hype (which of course has a fine line) and build such a following - he's obviously done well for himself and will probably see himself selling higher quality sites over time (as sellers see the value in collaborating with him).

We'll see. One successful listing (where the site went for an above average multiple) doesn't make a trend.
