Who says you have to resell it back online? Business minded people exist in vast numbers offline as well.

This is getting a bit off topic but have you had any experience selling sites to offline leads? If so, it would be absolutely fantastic if you could share some of your knowledge with the community as 99% of us have only dealt with online leads and, needless to say, the two differ from each other in a lot of aspects.

I myself have dealt a little bit with offline leads, however my experience isn't yet sufficient to share any tips etc.

Apologies for being "off topic". Iwas only responding to a statment made that seemed to question if what I am saying can be done. My experience in IM altogether originates from helping offline businesses going online. Meaning the setup of a shopping cart, adding website value, list building, client upkeep etc. I got tired of working for others and helpingthem build their business successfully only to keep getting sh*t on as a "lowly employee".

So I took a new approach. Take an online business that is limping along in the slow lane, spruce it up, and sell it to a niche targeted business offline. Allow me to use an example...I find on DP an acne blog that makes 10/month adsense. I build up the revenue and a list of clients along Facebook fans etc. Add a lot of value to the site. Now If I bought this on DP it could show up in the listings there if I try to resell it.

    NO WORRIES!!!

Look up your local dermatologists (Anywhere, USA) I am sure they would love a ready made site they can extract and exploit the existing client base as well as keep building on it with a doctor's approval...you get the idea. This concept of mine came from two places:

    1. Domain flipping method - buy a domain-- example-- Houstondogsalon.com - go to Yellow Book or a biz directory and contact (phone and email together preferred for best results) all the dog salons in Houston...sell domain for premium.

    2. My reverse engineer brain - (no I am not an engineer) Why must you only help offline businesses go online? Why can't you take an online business and "merge" it with the existing client hungry offline businesses? For a premium price tag I might add!

I hope this clears up the "off topic" ness as I was only doing my best to contribute and stimulate the creative element, as I believe in the business of making businesses and selling them or rebuilding- IT IS ESSENTIAL!

My off-topic reference was mainly aimed towards myself, not you

Regardless, this is a fantastic reply and I'm sure many have a lot to learn from it/you. I've taken the liberty of splitting the thread into two so that we could continue the conversation as this is likely going to be a very interesting one!

Re: Selling Sites to Offline Leads 101

Flattery will get you nowhere! I kid I kid. I can put something together maybe a little later if there is interest from others as to how I go about doing this. I am a big fan of your Bryan and also Thomas. I am applying what I learn from you guys and others, to my existing knowledge to basically take my business model of "Innovation Creation" to the nexl levels. You guys have certainlytaught me a lot thus far (from other resources). So I am MORE than happy to contribute.

Again, if there is interest in this topic I will put together some info on a detailed test case...maybe even walk you through a live test case on this thread....my eyes are drifting to DP for a victim, er, I mean prospect

Ever had any experience hiring someone to do the calls for you? Either on a per hour basis or commission? I would have thought this is the best way to scale this up. I got pi55ed off dealing with offline clients a few years ago, hence made the transition online, so not sure if I could deal with talking to them over the phone answering 1,000,000 questions again!

No experience wit h scaling this yet...I find that with the example used...(Acne blog) I can find a million zillion dermatologists or skin care oriented people/marketers that would want it through offline businesses. A good way I maximize my time on the phone is by asking about future marketing plans of the company I just sold to. If I just sold to them, they believe in the value I can provide, and I can pull out some more online business from them...maybe more websites...may referrals to all their business owner friends/professionals in their field etc. Remember rule number one in marketing...Referrals is KING! Anda referral from a business owner that has done biz with you to another biz owner....that is not gold....it is platinum.

On another note scaling up with a small phone team could definitely automate this type of process...you would have to train initially, but it would be well worth it in the end in repeat business and loyal clients alone.

In addition to this thread, (since it will be an ongoing project), I have created a group you can join for periodic offline marketing tips. All input is welcomed, and the best way to expand in offline markets, is by sharing knowledge with one another. So until then, stay tuned!

Re: Selling Sites to Offline Leads 101

    Addition to the thread:

I recently sold two sites and came up short on what I was expecting to earn from them. SO whaqt did I do?

No, I didn't tuck tail and run home... I made it happen!

I went on DP qualified a few sites and emailed the buyers I had on file...and oddly enough one of the buyers from flippa bought the qualified site, before I even bought it off DP. I waited to collect money for 24 hours then that was enough time to transfer the additional purchase right after the sale of the first on on Flippa. I basically made up the difference with a very satisfied client.

And I did that via email. I did not use a major marketplace to make this deal happen. Granted, the lead happened to come from online, but it goes to show if you are hitting the right buttons with the right market, you CAN sell anything to anyone!
