For sure Adsense is one of the best way to monetize your website through ads. But besides Adsense, and lucrative direct ad space selling, are there any better ad campaign networks available to us?

Tons, I can give you a few. But there is a trick:

Search the marketplaces for sites similar/in the same niche as the one you want to buy. See how they were monetized. You would be surprised at how many different sources of revenue you can find this way.
