    Re: Getting Started-Flipping Sites

My partner and I are new to site flipping too. We decided to create our own, versus buying a site, for our first go at it. There are advantages and disadvantages for doing it both ways.

The main reasons we decided to create our own instead of buying one and fixing it up were:
Buying our own was cheaper than buying one from someone else
We wanted a specific domain name and no one owned it so our only choice was to purchase it ourselves
We wanted to start from scratch to learn as much as possible about the process

    Hope that helps.

On the flipside of what succor suggested is going the route of buying the site. The most popular place to buy sites to flip is DigitalPoint, it has a section just for sites for sale. If you go through and find one you think you can add value to then you have a better chance of flipping it for more. I believe there's a few threads about adding value somewhere around here. Also, if you find one with revenue already coming in then you can take it and try to improve that revenue or flip it immediately on Flippa. I hope this helps out a little, I'm still new to the process myself.

    Re: Getting Started-Flipping Sites

To chip in, both models of flipping can work. but as it has been pointed out, 'flipping' is more of buying an undervalued site, tweak it a bit and sell it off at a later date.

The tweaks may be changing of the theme, getting more earnings, getting it to page 1 of Google. All these things add to the final value when you decide to sell it on Flippa.

The main issue with spanking new sites is the amount of time they have to 'season' before they can get good Google rankings and generate good sales. If you are content to wait for that, that is fine.

Many people on here would rather buy an existing site with some traffic, some sales (even PageRank), do some more linkbuilding to increase sales and visitors and sell it for a higher premium on Flippa. With this model, this can be achieved in 30 days for a really nice lump sum.

Just my take on actual site FLIPPING.

    Cheers...

    @Bambookid
the way you start it depends on you. If you already got some capital to buy an established site, then go for it. But if you don't, you can create it by yourself.
As for me, i got started by buying established site (with earning) on DP , and sold it for almost 3x the original price.
There are several ways to make the site looks profitable, what i'd love to do right now is by selling the text-links

    Re: Getting Started-Flipping Sites

I have a number of websites and domains and some with PR, but have yet to make decent money, infact, besides a few bucks from adsense, thats all I make. I am just very stuck right now with all these assets i have an not being to put into good use. At least to furnish it and flip it to start generate some cash flow.

    Re: Getting Started-Flipping Sites

At the moment my method is to purchase new sites and sell on flippa. for example...I have a SEO site built for about $30 (which includes the domain name), and auction on Flippa and recently I had a sale for $120. I have been able to source wholesale SEO and traffic wholesalers. As part of the sale I give the source of the wholesalers plus some other bonuses. This is not huge profits but it is a start.

I think the term for this is scratching. In terms of flipping...purchase an existing site and add perceived value...not so sure about what is involved.
    cheers
