I would think the logistics would be a nightmare. Timing would be everything. Seems like that would be a mighty short auction time frame too.
How long do you have before having to actually pay for a site once the auction ends?
And how long do you have once a sale is complete to hand over the site?

Oh I see. I've never done it with an auction, only privately. And yes, you're right, timing is everything

The timing is so important in fact, that you really need to make sure that you really can afford to pay for it in case the time ever comes when the selling side of your arbitrage goes wrong.

That's one of the ways people get in a lot of trouble with arbitrage. It's great if everything goes right, but you really need to be able to cover it if it ever goes wrong. It's great because you're not actually using your own money, but it's still important to actually have the money just in case.

    Actually not quite.

I have done this several times by paying a small deposit to the seller and telling them that it will take me 5 days to come up with the rest of the funds. Then list the site for a 3 day auction, pay up as soon as your buyer pays you and have the seller transfer the site directly to your buyer Another good thing about this is that you don't have to worry about the fact that revenue moves from seller's account to yours and Google Analytics account changes because it will be on seller's server until the deal is finalised.

Thanks for this -- I'm very new to domain flipping myself and this whole thread had a lot of useful insight!

Wow. I don't want to make myself out to be a more of a newbie than I already am - but I generally thought "Flipping" was just another buzz word for "selling" that only applied to the website-selling industry!! Oh my - more to read!!

    • lightly throw to see which side comes up; "I don't know what to do--I may as well flip a coin!"
    • toss with a sharp movement so as to cause to turn over in the air
    • hot or cold alcoholic mixed drink containing a beaten egg
    • turn upside down, or throw so as to reverse; "flip over the pork chop"; "turn over the pancakes"
    • a sudden, quick movement; "with a flip of the wrist"; "the fish flipped over"
    • interchange: reverse (a direction, attitude, or course of action)

It's developed very organically thanks to some great input by members...the key now is for people interested in hatching to roll up their sleeves, have some success and share their experiences with the group

    Re: 'Flipping' vs 'Hatching'

Have tried to post a reply several times to various posts but keep being told I am not logged in. When I log in I lose my reply and have to start all over. Anyone else experience this? If so, what is the problem and how do I overcome it?

Now regarding the post: What products and/or report's can I acquire detailing how to go about buying sites already having traffic but no income. I am new to this and tired of spending money on WSO's or other products that basically just rehash the same thing. Basically, build then flip. I have searched online for something detailing the in's and out's of buying sites and rebuilding or revamping them to flip or to keep. Maybe my kw's were not that well keyed in but I have yet to find anything detailing the process.

All of you experienced members here must knbow of something like that or have one yourselve's. Is there one that one of you would recommend or possibly create? I am willing to pay for good information that I can actually put to use. Tired of paying for the same old crap, touting just this and then going on to building from scratch and flipping sites.

Can someone point me to a good product? OR tell me what to search for online? Some kw's that would get me what I want and just some generic c**p!

    Thanks, alex44
