FP - Google Video is going away

It appears that Google video will no longer show videos after April 29th.

While watching a video a message at the top said, "This video will be removed on April 29th". I tried several other videos and got the same message.

Those who pay for Google Business Apps will continue to be able to upload and use video but the free stuff is going away.

Yeah -- how I read it is they are focusing uploads / free hosting to Youtube.

It's amazing they didn't drop it sooner. Google Video was only started because they saw the success youtube was having and they wanted to get their share. A year later they just bought youtube anyway, so google video kind of became pointless for them after that. They should probably have worked a way to move everything from Google video to youtube when they acquired it and then just used google video as a redirect to the videos on youtube. I don't see how it made much sense to keep both platforms going for so long. Big corporations have their own logic regarding things like that though.

I too was kinda surprised that Google video lasted as long as it did since they own Youtube. I do agree with you Greywolf that they should have just transferred the videos to Youtube. I'm sure Google's attitude was, "Hey you're not paying us to keep your videos so go upload them to Youtube yourself."
