    Re: Flipping Resources?

Generally speaking, all automated tools are absolute rubbish. That's simply because there's no way for a computer to provide any sort of accurate valuation because a computer doesn't know what's happening on the market and doesn't get a "feel" for the site/domain that you're getting appraised.

The best way of putting a value on your site/domain is to simply browse some popular market places (Flippa for sites, Sedo/Afternic for domains) and look what other similar properties have been sold for in the past. This way you will see what actual people have paid for something (and are hopefully willing to pay again), rather than what a computer thinks your site/domain is worth.

    Re: Flipping Resources?

Justin @ FlipFilter actually built a reasonably accurate valuation tool here: http://www.flipfilter.com/website-valuation-tool - it's not perfect, but it's a lot better than most of the automated tools out there as his actually looks at variables that are taken into account when buying/selling sites.

As with large scale M&A, the best way to figure out the value of a site/domain is to look at precedent transactions (ie find a similar site/domain that has sold and base it on that).

    HTH.
