Flippa blog change - direct (nofollow) link from comments on the Flippa blog

Originally comments in the Flippa blog could link directly to your site from your signature/username.

Subsequently Flippa seemed to have changed that because for a while I saw all links going to users' Flippa profiles, not off-site.

Whether it was this or some other reason, the number of comments seemed to taper off. Many of those who used to comment were siteflippers who were posting mainly to drive traffic to their sites and their products. Without the direct link I suppose the incentive to post was diminished.

Flippa seems to have now reverted to the original setup - direct links. (Or maybe I'm reading this all wrong and someone can enlighten me, but some links now seem to go off-site.)

Has there been a change in policy? If so it may be worth siteflippers starting to comment in the Flippa blog again. Do note that the links are nofollows so don't count for SEO.

    Clinton,

Does that mean that links from Flippa listings themselves are also nofollow? When I make a listing I usually include plenty of links to my Sites For Sale page on my website to get the most out of my Flippa listing. I can usually get the sale from Flippa and then a few more sales on my own site to more than pay for the listing fees.

It looks like they are dofollow. You could use something like SEO X-Ray to test for yourself.

But I wouldn't value those links highly. As with blogpost links they are on pages that get pushed down deeper into the site over time.

    Clinton,

The main use of these links is not to get the link juice but just the direct traffic from Flippa. If they get buried that's fine. But as you know, every little link helps :-)
