I am absolutely livid about this!

There is a website out there that is promoting bad advice. I commented about it since I have quite extensive knowledge about the subject. They deleted my post!

What would you do? The advice posted is bad for the consumer. Really Really bad. I'd post the site, but I don't want to give it any recognition.

    Ughh..

There are loads of websites that promote bad advice. Also, there are loads of newspapers who publish "stories" that aren't true. There's not much you can do about it other than to choose where you want to hang out, what you want to read, and what sources you'll believe.

As for them deleting your post, that's par for the course. A lot of places will delete postings that don't adhere to what message they're trying to get over to their followers. Some places don't welcome questions, criticisms, or any kind of analysis. Irritating though it is, it's probably best to avoid those places.

If you have extensive knowledge on the subject, and it's relevant to online business, then why not start a thread on EP giving us the benefit of your advice and insights?

    TeamFreedom, I feel your pain!

There was a time the biggest marketplace for websites (Sitepoint, now Flippa) was giving really bad information all designed to make them more profit. People like me who knew the industry complained on their forum. Sitepoint buried the posts, deleted the posts, replaced the good posts with their own versions and played all kinds of games to frustrate the consumer getting good advice. You know what we all did? We left Sitepoint en masse and started experienced-people.net where we were able to post the truth and educate the public without fear of those posts being replaced for not towing the company line. Tens if not hundreds of thousands of people have since benefited from that advice being here on the EP forums.

If you don't like them deleting the truth, post that truth here instead (if it's on topic)! Or find some other neutral ground in which to post. That's a much better option than complaining to the people deleting your posts.

You do it like this - environmentalarchitects .com = that way it isn't linked or autolinked, but we still know what you're talking about.

    thanks crab foot..

The site giving bad information is this.. girlsjustwannahavefunds .com /bad-credit-loan. The crappiest advice ever in regards to finance. Consider a PAYDAY loan? Are you out of your mind? The only reason they posted that is because they want to be ranked for that to make money. They have no desire to help women/men alike to become financially free. This site was supposedly featured places. If that's the case, Oprah better be pulling her endorsements back, jeez.. I am a hothead when it comes to bad advice.

I wrote about it. I plan on posting it on my website

Not much you can do there, though I feel your pain.
The worst discussions like that around here happen when some "special person" decides to start a discussion (specifically in Namibia, where the internet is still newfangled and undiscovered) about SEO. It inevitably always results in a discussion about the effectiveness of certain techniques (the amount of "SEO experts" that go "N$ 5000,- for 1000 links!!! Guaranteed #1 placement!!shift+1" is overwhelming). The moment that happens, I see it as my mission to tell the person off, and link to a bunch of articles talking about the negative impact. I hope to run that guy out of business like that, and warn his potential clients. Guys like that SHOULDN'T play in the business and are nothing but rip-offs and charlatans.
This then obviously gets seen as a challenge. I have personally been called a "retard" by such a person in a public facebook group for Namibian freelancers, I ahve been told that this character's 12 year old son could do SEO'ed websites (let me not comment on him having a son... 0_o), and have then been challenged to a "SEO showdown". Better yet, like this:
"You clearly don't know what you're talking about. I hereby challenge you. You pic a keyword, and we build sites, and we see after a week who comes up higher in the rankings".

I ignored him and left it at that. A link earlier in the discussion pointed to a SEOmoz article warning about people who promise results, and further about people who promise FAST results...

When the number of people like that in Namibia grew, I decided that I refuse for now to offer anything related to SEO. I refuse to be affiliated with a field where 9/10 people that realise what kind of work it is would probably have horrid experiences with that profession...

Hey, TeamFreedom! That's given me an idea. I have a nice domain for payday loans but I've never done anything much with it because it seemed too distasteful to try to make money out of vulnerable and desperate people. It could be used instead to warn people about sites that give crappy advice.

    Kay!
I would write all the articles you would need on that. You'll make good adsense money (To offset the costs of running the site) but the point is you are getting the point across that these are HORRIBLE.

I won't lie, I haven't always been the best when it came to money because I had the gift of being able to get myself out of issues but the PayDay Loan thing wrecked my credit so bad. It took months to get out of the hole. I lost my bank account because my bank thought I was being shady. That's the worst feeling when you get put into the EWS. No one wants to deal with you then.

I at one point had 12 loans because I was in such a horrific state of situations. I've gotten past that but I am really hoping to make it in business and life. I pray constantly to trust in God to aid me out of bad situations but will not allow my self financial destruction and if I can pass my story along then all the merrier..

Yes, these things are scary and they wreck lives. Some of those loans cost in excess of 4,000% APR.

I would willingly get a site set up on the domain (it's PaydayPals.com), where people could offer advice to help others avoid some of these traps. If we could earn anything from AdSense or any other source of revenue, we could use the money for something useful. I only bought the domain because I thought I'd be able to sell it on. I never had the stomach to get properly into the market of selling loans for a commission, so I ended up putting the domain on a holding page.

I would love to just give you the domain, but I still think it has potential to be sold to an end user. It would be great to see it being put to a much better use than fleecing people out of their money. Maybe we could even get some kind of community project going.

Honestly, this is the internet, get over it. Trying to be in the internet police isn't going to get you very far, you'll just keep going round and round in circles.
