Like I stated at the bottom. That I wrote that before I realized there was a second page. I didn't see your extended explanation.

I have taken it upon myself to spread what I know, in fact I just wrote a very long blog post in response. It may not reach the masses as this other place does but I am here to help get people aware that there are wolves in sheeps clothing.

How do you suggest stopping misinformation being spread? By emailing the site owner or commenting on their site telling them it's bad advice hoping they will see the error of their ways? That's naive at best.

You didn't even read my explanation. Stop moaning about it and go do something about it! Launch your own site with advice that is better and outrank them.

Things like payday loans seem terrible to those of us who have access to something better - or who are strong-willed enough to live within our means when our peers are not doing so. However, there are, and always will be, sections of society for whom they are a normal way of life. While I was living in Botswana, I helped create a system for a woman who became very successful because she only charged 20% per month instead of the 'industry standard' 30%. The market for these loans consisted entirely of women, and they were secured by holding the person's cash card until the loan was paid at the beginning of the next month.

[Edited to expand on the subject]
You won't have any effect on these systems by telling those who profit from them that they are immoral - you need to tackle the whole culture that gave birth to them in the first place. That's a rather bigger challenge. You're more likely to achieve something useful if you can find a way to run a successful business (i.e. one that doesn't go bust by underestimating the risks and bad debts) that satisfies the need at a lower price.

I love this cartoon so much it's been framed on my office wall for a couple of years now, for when I get carried away...

JJ, that is extremely funny. Thank you for that. I think I might do what you do and post the cartoon as well.
