    What song would you write

If you could have written any song what would it have been and why?

I am not talking about for fame or fortune so white christmas is out unless you have a personal reason (apart from how many it sold) to chose it.

I probably have 2, the first is If Today was your last day by Nickelback
It was released about the same time, my mother was really hit hard by dementia and my step mum passed away from lung cancer. It talks about if you knew it was your last day on earth and what you would do with it. My mum didn't get much of a chance to do anything with hers but my dad and step mum did travel and really enjoyed the last year of her life and she was at peace with everything.

The second is October Grey by The Screaming Jets
This one is a few years old and reminds me of a beautiful lady and a crazy time in my life.

Personally these songs sum up in words the feelings I had at the time. I wish at times I could write poems or songs but I don't have that gift.
I got out of bed today staring at a ghost. Who forgot to float away, didnt have all that much to say. Wouldn't even tell me his own name.
    Non ducor, duco

Shame I can't get on youtube till we get back, it's blocked in China. I like Nickleback though.

I would have written a song that would make the whole world sing... oh wait .... crap... Barry Manilow got there first.

Unlike grynge, I do have a talent for song writing. I was even featured on the BBC.

Here's the full song on youtube.

I wrote a song which caused a car crash once - but really, I'd have loved to have written ...

Once upon a time there was an imaginative nutcase called Les Prior, who was the frontman of a comic rock group called Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias - here he is miming to their biggest hit on TV, with his mate CP Lee having an accident during the guitar solo -

Les had a terminal illness, but he carried on performing with the band as long as he could - that was what he enjoyed the most, making people laugh. Wish I'd written that one.

Leukaemia. Took out a young man we knew who was all set to become a very good paediatrician. Sometimes it's difficult not to feel some malicious being is to blame, when the good guys fall and the ones whose grave you would dance on keep going.

Sometimes the dice fall your way, though. I feel very lucky that my wife has survived 3 cancers (and now begins to look as if she may even outlive me, which has put the kybosh on my plans to spend the last years of my life sharing my time between playing on the Web and looking out of the window at a harbour full of boats). Wish I could think of a song that reflects her will to survive and flourish. Maybe one will come to me later. Sinatra singing I Did it My Way is the best I can come up with so far, but that's a bit mainstream.
