    Need Some SEO Help

Hello everyone. I hope you're all having lovely, beautiful days.

I've been working on this website: www[dot]balancedscorecardkenya[dot]com and was doing a bit of SEO work for it.

I'm in Kenya so the test is to get it to rank for "balanced scorecard" from Kenya i.e. when the search is made using google.co.ke
I have been able to get it competitive for the term "balanced scorecard kenya" but it seems to be completely absent in the search results pages for "balanced scorecard".

I'm sure almost everyone here is more experienced than as far as SEO goes. What do you think I missed out on to make this happen?
Thank you for your time, I greatly appreciate it!

Easiest way to make this happen?

    1. Use www*balancedscorecard*ke as your domain not the .com (obviously replace * with .).
    2. If you're stuck with the .com then go into Google webmaster tools and set the targeted country to Kenya. http://www.searchenginejournal.com/t...r-tools/30662/
    3. Regardless of 1 and 2 get backlinks from Kenyan sites.

I agree with tke71709 - if you are trying to target local search you're far better off with a country tld rather than a .com for example, here in the UK if I am aiming a site at the local market I am much better off with a .co.uk than a .com

You're on site SEO could use a bit of work. You have your <h1> tag sorted but I don't see any <h2> tags on your page - use header tags for all your headings. For your internal linking, don't use click here to learn more for the anchor text, use anchor text relevant to the page you are linking to.

    Get some links coming in.

If Kenya internet is as under developed as Namibian internet is then you are in luck. Keep pumping articles into your blog its not only a great way to rank well for targeted terms and long tail search phrases Google really loves them in small niches. I took a Namibian site from mid page 2 to mid page 1 by seemingly only adding a blog. Next you need to examine your competitors backlink profile, you can get an idea from traffic travis free version or even using backlinkwatch.com. Again unless some guys are really over performing the norm for african sites aimed at local markets is to have a small or none existant back link profile.

Break your link hunting into two categories, local links from other Kenyan or african web sites and then international. For the first you want prime links to really good sites and these are often the hardest to find, international links you just want some decent quality, respectable blogs and forums that are do follow will likely suffice.
Then lastly begin creating off site signals for the search engines, its hard in most of Africa as things like twitter may not be popular enough to leave an imprint but utelize, facebook, linkedin and any you can without having to water down your content. You could even try Zujava, Wizzley and Squidoo, they cannot hurt that for sure. Then lastly make sure your images are tagged correctly and being found on things Google images.
Implement the above and unless its an anomaly of a local market you should be no1 in no time.
    Best of luck

Thanks for sharing the great news. Feedback is always appreciated. Next, get the site to #1 or at least on the first page.
