Five a click - how does this work?

A naive friend has just told me that he made $50 today and is sure he could easily make $1000 a month, with Five a Click. Here's their spiel:

Get paid $5.00 per click. $5000 cashout! Sign up for free today! We will pay you $5 per click. Once your Five A Click account reaches at least $5000 you can submit your request to withdraw your earnings.
Five A Click will review your withdrawal and if your account has not breached any of the terms of service then your payment will be sent! There REALLY is no risk since you can join Five A Click for free today!
Are they just banking on most people getting bored before they reach $5000, or is there something more sinister going on? Are their terms of service designed to disqualify most punters or something?

    1) They disqualify you from payment upon review.
    2) They stop showing you links to click just before you make the payment threshold.
    3) They close shop, pay no one, and move on to their next domain to do it all over again.

Anyone who thinks they can get paid $5 just for clicking random links is beyond naive.

I tried to join to check out the program. I filled in everything and accepted their terms of service. They did not approve my account. In bright red letters, the following message appeared

The sign-up does not request a location, so they must be filtering by IP address.

It's a known scam, they don't pay anyone. I recently posted about site like that selling at flippa. One of the weirdest/shadiest things I've seen on flippa.

Digging around, I found someone saying that they make marks pay real money for 'membership' before they even discuss details of how and when they will pay them for their clicks. These guys will be pretty careful not to risk ending up in jail, but why don't they get lynched?

Yea premium memberships (that supposedly allow users to earn more per click and get paid promptly) are one of the main income sources. I'm also surprised how these kind of obvious scams can still exist. I guess it's not that big and not enough people complain to bring attention to it.
