While you're waiting for an American to come along, the following from a Canadian may be helpful.
For the US, PACER provides the information you are looking for, provided you set up an account. The URL is: http://www.pacer.gov/
Here is how they describe the service:
In Canada, the appropriate source is the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Canada. The appropriate URL is:Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) is an electronic public access service that allows users to obtain case and docket information from federal appellate, district and bankruptcy courts, and the PACER Case Locator via the Internet. PACER is provided by the federal Judiciary in keeping with its commitment to providing public access to court information via a centralized service.

I hope someone comes along and proves me wrong, but company information on insolvency in the U.S. is not handled in the same way as the U.K. There are several chapters of bankruptcy available, so insolvency has levels. I know of no bankruptcy database that covers all company information in that manner.
PACER.gov is a paid service. Although it allows public access to court records, this service is for dissemination of detailed case specifics. If you are intending to perform private DD research, this is a resource. If your intent is public disclosure, this is not a resource, as
However, just like the London Gazette, every newspaper in the U.S. does have notices of (local) bankruptcy filings, which are made public before the case goes to court. Case results are not published publicly (but are available to anyone for a fee) .Originally Posted by PACER.gov

Bankruptcy can either be a federal or state process depending on the company, the statute etc. Google something like bankruptcy reporter, I am pretty sure there is a paid service that collects this information.

Just to confuse the issue, keep in mind that the terminology varies slightly. In the US, bankruptcy applies both to corporations and individuals. In the UK, companies become insolvent or go onto liquidation. In England & Wales, bankruptcy applies to individuals. In Scotland, the term is sequestration.
I know this doesn't help with the original question, but I thought I would throw it in.

I do not think there is a print publication that has all of the information from all of the States. If there were, it would be a thick one even if it is published daily.
Each large City or Metropolitan area usually has one or two business newspapers {usually weekly editions} that do list bankruptcies and legal notices. However, there is no national print newspaper.
On the other hand, the information is readily available from a number of sources. My employer uses LexisNexis and pulls a report on each prospective commercial borrower. Any bankruptcy would be shown there as well as any liens, licenses, and mortgages where the prospective borrower is a party.
