    Marketing, Advertising, SEO co-op

    Hi all

Since I ve been receiving lots of advice on here and generally asking questions I thought I d try and post soemthing that might be of help to everyone else and give a little back.

I was browsing a different section of this forum and went to websitebroker.com to have a look at the types of sites people are selling to try and get some inspiration and info. I came across this video describing a website co-op that I found really really interesting and as a noob was able to follow and understand without appreciating the technical aspect of what they do.

Its a pretty cool setup for buying domains and ageing them to target clients looking for specfic traffic. It also has a load of other really cool features that they have on their network for linking and advertising. My ability to articulate this is not gonna be nearly as good as the video that was made so I ll cut to the chase and just post that (just scroll down this page and its 43mins long)

I hope this is helpful for people and all thoughts and opinions about its pro s and con s warmly received.

    All the best
    Ross

Thanks for that contribution, RossDVD. The site:
Listed May 20, 2010 Category Business & Employment Status Fully Developed Website Visitors 140,000 (daily) Page Views 600,000 (daily)
Number of Members: 5,000 Income $4,400.00 per month Expenses $0.00 per month Asking Price $495.00
I must admit I don't have time for long videos and at over 40 minutes I knew I'd never get to the end of this one. I managed about 3-4 minutes

I did scan quickly through the text. Actually, your ability to articulate this probably exceeds that of the seller His pitch is littered with spelling, grammar and other mistakes that immediately makes me a bit wary. When you're addressing business professionals & seeking their investment in your idea you don't use the type of language and casual approach you'd use talking to friends in a forum. You'd read through your post and correct at least the most glaring mistakes. Most buyers here would look at the income of $4,400 pm and the price of $495 and ... go no further.

Then I saw that the core of his plan involved buying domains, holding them for a bit, building links within the network, offering the general public free press releases and then selling the domains on Sitepoint. Sitepoint? Either this is the usual carelessness or he's just given away that this is an old businessplan he's pulled out of the attic and published without even some cursory dusting.

He's right on the aged domains bit. He's right that building a product/service is a good thing. But a collection of sites that has nothing more than copycat press releases is neither a product nor service. If there is no other unique content, no other purpose of existence you're putting a lot of money/effort into something that's doomed to failure at some point. Should Google rumbles this network as they've done with other such networks, do you think anyone would pay to buy your bunch of PR banned sites that have no unique content?
