    A warning to Hi-Jackers

According to the news here, 6 men tried to hi-jack a chinese flight, using parts from a pair of crutches. The warning is 2 of the 6 men were beaten to death by the passengers of the plane. I am not a fan of the death penalty but can't really feel any pity for those men.

What do you think should have happened to them? I think chinese law will mean the remaining 4 will be executed but I couldn't couldn't be sure of that fact. I don't think they should receive the death penalty but that is my own beliefs. Though I am a firm believer that a persons home is his castle and if someone breaks into your house you should be able to deal with them how you see fit, and this is sort of that case the people on the plane felt their house was threatened so they reacted some will say an over reaction but if it was me I wouldn't charge them if all the facts turned out to be true.

Of course it all could be a beat-up by the news papers and I am only going by the facts of what the news reported.
I got out of bed today staring at a ghost. Who forgot to float away, didnt have all that much to say. Wouldn't even tell me his own name.
    Non ducor, duco

I notice the World Uyghur Congress claim this was a dispute over seats on the plane. I'd love to know how they know this as I am pretty sure the Chinese Government would not yet have permitted them to make outside contact so soon after the event, or are they just covering up for a failed hijacking attempt by their members who claim they are a non-violent organisation?

Unless they detained every person on the plane they could have gotten that information from another passenger who was onboard.

No way to tell what really happened at this point. I wouldn't trust either the Chinese government or the World Uyghur Congress to tell an unbiased story.

Without knowing the circumstances I wouldn't sentence them to a death penalty.

I don't support the death penalty for murder for no other reason than to kill someone as a punishment for killing someone is a contradiction, it doesn't matter if you consider yourself to have the weight of law behind your decision, you're doing the same thing to them that you were punishing them for in the first place. How does that make sense.

Killing people for other crimes, like sex and drugs related offences, is just barbaric. Again, like CCTV, it's treating the symptom and not the cause of the problem. If drugs were legalised, there'd be no drugs crime. Duh. Serious sex crimes could be punished by castration.

I agree with Nidec though that the Chinese government's version of events simply can't be taken at face value.

That wasn't what I said, I was saying that the World Uyghur Congress claims that this was a dispute over seats on the plane seems unlikely.
Personally, I take ALL government's statements with a pinch of salt. They all have their own agendas and it is often years before the truth eventually comes out, if ever.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I couldn't agree more though that governments and individual politicians regularly lie. My default position on that is that they're lying until proven otherwise.
