The ultimate website tools and resources list

I have been lurking around these forums quite a lot recently and I keep finding amazing tools, but unfortunately they are pretty buried in the forum. So why not make an ultimate tools thread! I will link ones that I have found and any suggestions people make will be put into this post, and mods please feel free to edit this post also.

90% of this list is by the user golles, please thank him in the post below.

Still short at the moment, anyone else have anymore tools?

    Getting started:
http://wordpress.com/ Simple way to get a site quickly
Filezilla - FTP client. Used to transfer files onto your server, vital tool.
artisteer - site development this is in no way leading web design / development tool BUT it is extremely useful for quick site makeovers and especially useful for non technical people. It allows you to create a layout then automatically generate a theme / template etc for popular content management systems - wordpress, joomla, drupal etc or static html
http://experienced-people.net/forums...at-should-I-do Some good advise, read it
http://experienced-people.net/forums/showthread.php/895-Building-your-first-website-complete-newbie! taken from thread listed above, gives a good list of steps to take

(maybe put some hosts here, up for discussion)

    Website Development tools:
Firebug - firefox / chrome plugin that allows analysis of web page analysing html, javascript, css and page load time with extra page load plugin. (Babyrats: I highly recommend this tool, especially for wordpress as it helps you work out the CSS code)
Notepad++ - Great text editor thats easy to use, useful for HTML/CSS/PHP
Sizer - allows you to see what youe website looks like at different screen sizes.
Faststone Photo Resizer - it me me literally years to find this tool. Bulk image resizing and optimisation - amazing software.
WinHtTrack - allows copying of an entire website - great if you have just purchased a domain and content - quick way of getting all the content copied. Or if you are moving a site to a new domain etc.

    SEO tools:
    Google adwords keyword tool
SEO Tool Bar from SEOBook - firefox toolbar allows quick sense check on any site from and SEO perspective
Chrome Extension - SEO Site Tools - as per SEO Book tool bar but does same things in Chrome
http://www.google.com/analytics/ Gives you lots of information on people who are visiting your site
http://www.google.com/webmasters/ Google webmaster tools, sort of SEO but has many other very useful features

    Monetize:
https://www.google.com/adsense/v3/app?hl=en_GB Google adsense, great for new people
https://affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk/ UK amazon affiliate, good if you are reviewing products on your site
https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/ US version of amazon affiliate

    Resources:

    SEO Resources:
http://experienced-people.net/forums...omeone-with-no Discussion from these forums about ways to do SEO without cash
http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guid...yword-research "How to do keyword research"

    Misc:
PDF Creator - generate pdf from anything - installs as an extra printer and literally anything you can print you can turn into a pdf.

I won't speak for golles, but improving/building on something someone else has done (with the appropriate credits) can only be a good thing for future visitors/readers.

Saw this in a recent Flippa blog post: A big collection of tools.

I think it's a fantastic list. If you find it useful I suggest you download it and keep a copy.

I've just discovered a free web editor - Blue Griffon, looks very promising but I've yet to try it.
