    Integrating Adsense With Analytics

Has anyone integrated their Adsense and Google Analytics data and uncovered actionable insights from it?

I'd integrated them a while back but I've only just started looking at the data. I like the way that page level CTRs are reported, as I don't create channels per page. I just tend to create a channel for a particular size/colour - lazy, I know.

I also like the way that you can get at top Adsense performing pages - that's a real eye opener.

All this data is fantastic, but how do you analyse it to come up with an action plan to make your site more profitable? I wrote something here about targeting the keywords that bring traffic and generate the most income, but is there anything you do to make use of this data?

The page channels have been magic for me. But I do use the old Adsense code, I never got to grips with the new type.

    But, great question!

I find that the "intelligence" gives valuable insights when the eCPM rises or falls sharply for a particular channel. For example, when the percentage of search traffic falls sharply on one of my channels the eCPM shoots up very sharply. The exact opposite happens on another channel. That was very useful to know. There's no point working on more SE traffic for a term if the traffic from that term isn't earning money.

This was a pretty cool post - one of those moments where you know something exists but never quite get round to using it, then it becomes something you obsessively check!

    Thanks Hooperman

One thing that bugs me about this integration is that you can only link one Adsense account to one Analytics account. If you've got several sites using the same Adsense account (that's pretty normal) and several sites being tracked by Analytics, you can choose only one site to integrate. That's crap.
