    It depends on the registrar what happens after expiry. There are "grace periods" between the date a domain expires and the date when it actually drops. Normally the registrar will point the servers for a dropping domain at parking, but if they are trying to sell it, it makes sense to leave the name pointing at the actual site.

    Given that circumstance, I'd take a copy of the site for reference purposes if I wanted the domain, then try to buy it for $30.

    tried that, but bidding went up to $200+, it's not really worth to me.
    Anyone knows some good sites to also track expired domains auctioned on namejet and other places besides godaddy?
