Is blogging dying or what makes a great blogger?

I discovered a post recently that was about link building from an aspiring SEO from FL gaining traction and getting noticed in the SEO industry. The post, which was published this past Apr, has 1178 tweets, 397 likes, 552 +1. Talk about social proof! The post is titled Link Building Strategies – The Complete List and now has a PR of 5 when the domain root has PR4. This example I think proves that it is possible to break into blogging and establish yourself.

1) Create dynamite original content
2) be creative about how you promote to ensure you get visibility (social, search, forums)
3) Make it easy to share (floating social buttons on left - always above the fold) - am working on this for my blog

If interested, Google the post title and I am pretty sure you will find it :-) The kicker, Jon, the author, is 17 and already establishing himself as a thought leader in the SEO industry. Pretty cool, heh?

I do get your point about blogging. But ... however, brilliant your one off post is, a blogger needs to keep producing posts of that quality to retain his followers. That takes some doing ... and a lot of time! Many owners of quality blogs find the returns don't justify the time spent.
